It includes healthy gums, lips, upper jaw, lower jaw, tongue, salivary glands and many more. Teens love to live the most carefree life. They wish to eat anything they find tasty. This is the time when they like to be lazy as well. Proper maintenance of oral health will help prevent further oral illnesses and diseases. A bad oral health can affect one’s self esteem, social interaction and also the taste of food that you eat. Here are a few ways in which you can maintain your oral health in order to avoid further serious problems.

Teeth and Gums

The teeth consist of two main parts, the crown that is above the gum and the roots that are deep inside the gums. Since teeth are used to bite and crunch the food that we eat, they are supposed to be quite hard. This hardness is brought about by minerals such as calcium, phosphorous and other salts. Regular maintaining and cleaning of teeth will help in keeping them healthy and avoid further issues. It is also important to take care of the gums because this is where the teeth are originally rooted.

The Bristles on the toothbrush help in proper cleaning and brushing of the sides and top portion of the teeth. It is important to brush your teeth minimum twice every day. This includes brushing in the morning and at night before going to bed. Avoid brushing your teeth too hard as this may damage the enamel and separate the teeth from the gums. Plaque can be removed using a brush or a tongue cleaner. This will help prevent bad breath. Flossing is necessary once a day. It helps remove tiny food particles that may later cause bad breath or unhygienic oral health.

In addition to these, the prevention of cavities and diseases can be done by maintaining the basic needs of oral health. A regular visit to a dentist would help you analyze and solve dental problems at an earlier stage. An expert dentist is the best person who would suggest you solutions that would work soon.
